In this article, I'll explain four different types of setbacks and how we can overcome and recover from them. Career setbacks, Physical setbacks, Mental setbacks and Spiritual setbacks.
Recover from Career setbacks.
EVERY ACCOMPLISHMENT STARTS WITH THE DECISION TO TRY.
Career setbacks can be brutal, it's common that people are faced with shock, denial, and self-doubt. Career setbacks comes with a buddle of worries, it's a mental battle. From getting fired, having Low-salary job, having lack of social support or losing hundreds and thousands in your business. A lot can happen in your career, and it can be hard to accept the reality of the setback. Eventually, you recognize that you can't reverse the situation and choose to keep moving forward.
In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Acknowledge the setback and how we feel.
Take a step back and breath. Give yourself time to understand what just happened, then, give yourself permission to be angry or upset. But don't stay there for too long, it is critical to recognize and admit to your feelings and emotions. 'Keeping them inside may only make them seem larger than they already are. Pause for a bit and try to find a new meaning in your setback.
* Seek a career counselor or therapy to clarify goals and to work on personal development.
Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
Be open to expand your view of Success. When faced with career setbacks it's easy to fall into the mindset of, 'I failed completely, or start defining ourselves as unsuccessful or unworthy. The circumstances one is facing is not a reflection of who they are. Instead of escaping into drinking or eating excessively try to:
* Practice rational and positive thinking - This will help your mind stay cleared and focused.
* Learn as much as possible or develop an open-minded mindset.
*Instead of worry try to create.
Keep in mind, even a dramatic career failure can become a springboard to success if you respond in the right way.
Seize the right opportunity when it's within your reach. After you have taken the time to consider other options and have found other opportunities, take action. It might be scary to go into a different line of work or other territory, but the setback teaches you ways to prosper in your next journey.
recover from physical setback.
YOUR SETBACK IS JUST A SETUP FOR YOUR COMEBACK. - Steve Harvey
Sports Legends like Tiger Woods, Alex Smith, Fighters, athletes in general all encounter physical setbacks.
Tiger Woods won a U.S open on a broken leg and multiple surgeries on his right leg following a car crash.
This is his mindset on that at that time, he stated in a article "I can hit the golf ball and hit whatever shot you want, I just can't walk," he said. "I've had a few setbacks during the year that I still was able to somehow play through, but this one I just can't. Only time can heal this one and stay off my feet and get a lot of treatment done."
Though Tiger Woods sounds like not a single setback can defeat him, sometimes even the best in the game have to know their limits and give themselves time to heal and come back stronger and better than before.
Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. Psalm 6:2
Recovering from physical setbacks can be a challenging and frustrating process, but with the right mindset and approach, it is possible to overcome them. Here are 3 tips that's currently helping me recover faster from a Motocycle accident from June 7th of last year:
Listen to your Body: If you are the kind of person who is very active, it can be tough to go easy or find rest. However, this is important, pay attention to your body's signals and avoid pushing yourself too hard too soon. It's important to give your body time to heal and recover properly.
Stay Prayed up/Stay Positive: When physical setbacks arrive, it can become easy to feel discouraged and lose hope. But when you give all your worries and control to God and maintain a positive attitude this helps the healing process, and it makes the journey easier. It's about focusing on the progress you are making and staying motivated through it. Staying prayed up and keeping your mind on a positive outlook will give your mind a clear mind to visualize yourself getting stronger and back to your normal activities.
Stay Active: Depending on the nature of the physical setback, it is important to keep yourself active and continue with gentle movements and exercises. This has been the one thing that truly allowed my body to heal properly and helped my brain stay motivated and hopeful in this healing process. For safety reasons consult with your healthcare provider for guidance on what types of exercises are safe for you.
O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. Psalm 30:2
Recovering from physical setbacks is a gradual process and it's important to be patient with yourself. Celebrate small victories along the way and focus on the progress you are making, no matter how small the progress is. With time and dedication, you can overcome physical setbacks and grow back into your best life.
Recover from Mental setbacks.
GIVE YOUR MIND TO GOD.
Mental setbacks are one thing that we all face. Most of us haven't healed from childhood wounds or don't know healthy ways to deal with day-to-day challenges.
I truly believe that our minds can grow and find new ways to cope, try these 3 tips and watch how life becomes smoother, filled with wisdom and knowledge.
For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
Understand what you can and cannot control: Let's start by acknowledging that this is difficult to do, because as humans we have this strong desire to always feel in-control but when we realize we can take a load of pressure off of our shoulders by letting go of what we can't control, you are taking one layer off of that mental setback by acknowledging and understanding that.
Challenge negative thoughts: When recovering from mental setbacks, we constantly face negative thoughts, what warriors or athletes do is that they see every situation as a challenge, and when looking within our minds, it's important to challenge and reframe negative thoughts that may be holding us back. The best weapon to use to challenge negative thoughts is to practice self-compassion and remind ourselves that setbacks are natural part of life and do not define our worth or capabilities.
Give yourself Grace: Due to the time that it takes to heal and grow. You have to give yourself grace and appreciate what has already been accomplished, no matter how small. Give yourself time to see that 'wow, I've come a long way'. Take 5 minute out of the day to reflect in what you are grateful for and practice gratitude towards the blessings that's already been presented to you.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. Psalm 34:17
Mental setbacks are tough when you are dealing with it alone, that is why it is important to seek a support system that can pray and be there for you. Even though the storms can be heavy, and you believe you can conquer them by yourself, believe me you don't want to continue carrying the weight of the storm all by yourself.
recover from Spiritual Setback
GOD HAS A PLAN TO PROSPER YOU.
When our minds are clouded with hardships of the past and our faith cup is empty, we lose hope. We tend to withdraw from God when we don't receive the things we want or the healing that we imagined.
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32
We also have a spiritual setback when we follow the things of the world and not the teachings from the Lord. Then, we end up facing mental battles like depression and feelings of unworthiness. This is how we recover and see the setback we're facing will make the biggest comeback yet:
Read the Bible: To truly turn all of our setbacks into comebacks, you must fall in love with the word. This will help you create a strong relationship with Jesus, and you will find out that the bible is more than just a book. The Holy bible holds power that heals, power that gives hope, and power gives you future and peace.
Pray: As we read the bible and fall in love with the word, it becomes easy to connect to the Holy Spirit. No matter how small or big our prayers are God hears our prayer request, and God answers them, too. He is a faithful God who wants us to thrive and strive to be like him. Prayer can give us strength, when we feel weak in our spirit. Through righteousness and the grace of God, we are able to use the power of prayer in every aspect of our lives.
Worship: Trusting and understanding who God is in the midst of your setback and suffering is important. When feeling lost, it can be tough to read the word and also to pray but when you worship chains that are holding you back break. When Jesus is lifted up in praise and worship, lost people are attracted to him. When you close your eyes and worship, you quickly find a spot in presence of God.
This article shows a guide to become free, free from all kinds of setbacks. It is a guide that I found myself using, from when I had my Motocycle accident breaking both of my legs, to the healing process, I've learned that there is no setback big enough for God. You only get stronger from where you are. I encourage you to keep moving forward trust in the God and overcome your setback.
