"Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, The whole world belongs to you." - Lao Tzu
Enjoy the journey of building your resilience!
1. finding the 'why'
I learned that finding purpose can just mean finding meaning in life. A reason why you want to wake up and conquer the day. It doesn't have to be something major it can be as simple as playing roles that bring you peace and gladness.
I know that if I feel peaceful on the inside, I will attract peace.
"The meaning of life is to find your gift,
the purpose of life is to give it away."
- Pablo Picasso
Here are a few ways we can find purpose:
Leading a healthy lifestyle. Being aware of what we put in our body and making sure that we do challenging movements that help and empower us to live a longer and healthier life.
Serving your community or volunteering for a good cause. If you're passionate about helping kids like me. Apply for a volunteer opportunity in your community. This will shine the light you have inside.
Create a good support system. Although this takes a long time to build, when you focus more on your inner being, you will meet the right people, attract the right job for you, and find more peace!
2. Believing in yourself
"Mastering others is strength.
Mastering yourself is true power."
So, You've found your purpose and you're feeling great! However, somehow you become challenged. It becomes harder to maintain that purpose due to the changes in the world. What do you DO?
This is when the believing in yourself muscles can start to flex. This is when it's time to start believing that you are able to accomplish this purpose of yours.
It also means you have to pay attention to how you talk to yourself.
Listening to things that inspire and empower you:
Purpose-driven podcasts
Inspirational videos/ Ted talks
Positive and high energy Music
Good friends
This is the key to believing in yourself and maintaining a positive outlook on life.
3. Developing a social network
They do say you are who you surround yourself with. I find it to be true.
"If you hang around 5 Billionaires, you have a higher chance of becoming the 6th." - Denzel Washington
The people you choose to surround yourself with will either break you or build you.
Choose wisely.
Ask yourself:
Do these people bring out the best in me?
Can I talk to them when I need advice?
Are they bold, genuine, and honest?
Get to know people with no strings attached, and allow the flow to be present. Open up and release some energy with those people you meet, talk about things that lift your positive energy to a whole different level. Meet the people you could freely go deep with.
4. Adapt change
In the process of building resilience, we can learn to be flexible. Being flexible helps us become stress-free when life throws curve balls and is faced with unplanned changes.
"Change is what will bring the resilience we've always wanted."
We can learn how to become more adaptive to different seasons in our lives.
Barton Goldsmith Ph.D. Focus on emotional fitness and believes that positive changes can be as difficult to accept as negative ones. He believes that "Things change constantly: Loved ones die. Jobs end, as do relationships. People get promoted, couples bond in marriage, and babies are born.
He advises that when a good change appears, accept it with grace. You may not believe you deserve it, or you may not be ready for it but the only way to move forward and get the most out of it is to embrace the positivity.
When a negative change starts to show up, start looking for alternatives before it actually happens, if you can. Trust your gut feeling.
When changes become too heavy lean into the support group you have formed vent and seek advice. Remember friends, family, support groups, and counselors are available. They won't be there if you don't reach out. They'll be happy to give you some advice and a good listening ear.
5. take action
If you are a goal-oriented person you understand the importance of taking action. We also must understand that there are 2 different stages of goal orientation. One is the goal-setting stage and the other is the goal-achievement stage.
Goal setting stage:
We all got dreams and things we want to accomplish in life. Not a lot of us understand goals and how you can set them up for success. Goals identify the specific achievements we want to reach in our lives. But first we must examine them by using the SMART method:
Are the goals you set:
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Timely
Goal Achievement stage:
This is where we adopt the mindset of "The sky is the limit." It is time to start taking action.
Here is a great way we can achieve our goals and build resilience in the process:
I hope that this was helpful. May your journey to building unbreakable resilience be smooth and when you are faced with challenges and problems, know that you are more powerful than those problems.
Cheers,
