my story

My name is Jeff Mugongo, I have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, ISSA certified personal trainer, and Certified Life Coach. I’ve been coaching young athletes with speed & agility, and strength conditioning for 3 years now. Through personal training and group fitness, I’ve also helped several leaders become more self-aware of their confidence, inner power, and strength. I am super passionate about helping people, and being part of their fitness journey drives me to be a positive human being. My coaching style is all about energy, I bring authentic energy through boxing, strength training, and just general fitness to help my clients reach their goals and connect more to their bodies and mind. I wake up every day grateful to be alive.

More to my Story

My family and I were resettled to Denver Colorado in 2010, from Kanembwa Refugee Camp. In order to be approved to come to a well-developed country, the process took about 7 years long. It was consistent moving from camp to camp and each camp to me was a representation of "We are getting closer to the goal!" The goal was to be approved for a resettlement. This was the mindset of hope and faith that one day our lives will change. Sitting down for years waiting for an answer was definitely not an easy journey for everyone in the refugee camp. However, with faith and inner strength on our side, this experience turned me into a survivor. A survivor who later turned into a warrior, not the kind of warrior that fought in a war but a warrior of my own destiny. It was a battle of patience and faith.

Did you know: Across the globe, 13 .6 million refugees and asylum seekers are living under or seeking UN protection; 60 percent have lived in places like this for 10 years or more.

After 7 years as refugees, we finally got accepted to come to the United States. Of course, we were super excited and lost in words. We had no idea how that's going to feel or look like. We didn't care about the challenges we will encounter, all we cared about was that our life will forever change with this opportunity we've been waiting for.

By the grace of god, 12 years later the young refugee boy became a fitness manager at Seville golf and country club, a strong athlete, Fitness coach, and a mental fitness writer. Not in a million years, I thought this great opportunity to become what I see myself as would happen. I now know how to channel my peace and use my past experiences to help other people find their peace and acknowledging how strong they are.

The journey continues. . . .
